A condominium of nearly 5,000 square feet at The Surrey Residences sold for $25.7 million on July 9, 2026, the most expensive New York home sale filed that day. The price works out to more than $5,100 per square foot. Lauren Muss and Michelle Griffith of Douglas Elliman held the listing for the sponsor, Reuben Brothers. The buyer took title as S Surrey LLC.
The Surrey occupies East 76th Street between Madison and Fifth, and its residential conversion sits above the reopened hotel and the Casa Tua restaurant that anchors it. Hotel-branded residences on the Upper East Side remain a narrow category, and the Surrey's pricing has consistently outrun the prewar co-operative stock immediately around it.
Sponsor sales at the building continue to clear above five thousand dollars per square foot, a threshold the surrounding neighborhood reaches only in new development.
